As of this week, Union County has stopped accepting new applications for septic permits and is now requiring backhoe pits for county evaluations on current applications and all new applications when operations are back to normal.
The county will continue to accept Engineered Option Permit (EOP) packages from consultants and backhoe pits will not be required on any NCLSS Session Law permit submittals. What does this mean to you? If you absolutely need to have a septic permit within the next few months, you are going to need to consider the EOP process - we can help with that.
Once operations are back to normal, you will have the option to go through the county for a soil and site evaluation ($300) and hire a contractor to dig pits (avg. $400) for that evaluation. Another option will be to hire a NCLSS to evaluate your property and prepare a Session Law Permit package to help expedite the process and avoid the county pit requirement.
